Japan and its people

It is 4am, I just spent 3 hours on researching Japanese social behaviour and my head is spinning. Yes I have to admit I want to find out what Máté fascinates in Japan and Japanese women and I need to find out more (and I obviously cannot go ahead and send him a facebook message like: What’s the Japan thing?).
Maybe I am too selfish or feminist or whatever, but what I am reading makes me vomit. Seriously. I wished Japanese people were a lot more than their Anime characters. Seriously live it, don’t dream it!

I am planning on writing a blog entry on what I found out and read and what my thoughts are. I am aware many things may just be clichés, still if a lot of people report it, some living in Japan for years, there must be some kind of truth in it.

So far, to the Japanese women: You do not live to raise children and make your husband a good life. No No No! Also your husband can stay at home and be good to the kids, you have the right to do whatever you want. Fuck it, go out and live your freaking life and don’t live to other people’s expectations! It is one of the worst things you can do. Damn hell, I had to go through therapy to realise that and how much I lost because of it. How can anyone willfully live up to that? And most importantly how can a man accept and support that? Gender equality, anyone? How can anybody be happy with that?

I also know the cultures and traditions are different, went through different developments and what not, but seriously it is the year 2011! I don’t want to make anyone lose their traditions and connections to it, but some stuff is really beyond my understanding.

And I want to add the following (because if someone stumbles over that post, I may get angry comments):
I am somehow fascinated by Japan, its tradition, the differences to Europe/Germany, the language and well yeah I love the animes. That is all incredible interesting material and awesome, but I am talking about every day life here, which I find a bit troubling.

If there is anyone out there (Japanese, or Non-Japanese with Japan experience o.O) and is willed to answer my questions, please contact me, because I really want to know more and understand it. Maybe I am just getting a totally wrong image, reading the wrong pages, don’t know. As I said another blog entry will follow with the stuff that I have trouble with most and maybe someone will be able to help me out understanding.
