100 Push Ups

did_the_hundred_badge

If you come to my site more often (according to my statistics, I am not sure if anyone actually ever comes :P) you might remember my post about the fitness challenges.

I am done with the push ups and I made the 100. I have to admit I switched to the version with the bended knees, because I hardly had progress with the straight ones anymore and that didn’t make me happy. However, if anyone had told me 2 months ago that I indeed will be able to do 100 push ups (which way ever), I would have laughed at them. When I started it, I also didn’t believe that it would be possible in such a short amount of time and trust me if I made it, it is very likely you can do, too.

I also made progress with the sit ups. As stated in my first post about the challenges I was pretty disappointed that I only made it to 21 in the initial test. Now after 5 weeks, I am doing 110. Already after week 2 I was up to 56.

I stopped with the squats for the time being. Not because they are too hard, but they are way too boring. I was around 80 on the first day of week 4 in the “do as many as you can” set and it was so boring, even though I watched “Castle” while doing them. And they take the longest time.

Unfortunately on my weight or shape all this does not have an effect, which is incredibly disappointing. I didn’t expect to lose much weight but I had a little hope of it having at least some influence on my shape. Trust me it didn’t. I still look as chubby as I did before :(

Here again my “I made it” badge for the pushups. I hope to add the situps badge in a couple of weeks.

EDIT:
I also made the 200 situps!

How many can you do?

I came across the Onehundred PushUp Challenge on Facebook when someone posted the link. And I thought it is a pretty neat thing to do without much equipment or time, 3 times a week. So I started with it. In my initial test I managed 8, after two weeks I was already able to do 22. I started week 3 two weeks ago but was unable to get myself through it, because I was always so exhausted. Then last week I got sick. I will start over with week 3 this week, starting today. I decided for Wednsday, Friday and Sunday for my “fitness” days. That has no particular reason unless you count that on Monday I was definitely not able to do anything like this and I don’t want to wait until next week.

While being on the website for the 100 pushups I found more challenges and decided to start with squats and situps, too. Those are 200s challenges.
I did the initial test for both this morning.
Squats: 27
Situps: 21 (I expected more here, because I loved doing them at the gym and managed around 50)
Day 1 started this afternoon. It may be a bit too much doing all three in one run, but I will see. I may adjust the schedule later. But today it worked out well. Even after a 2 week pause with the push ups I came through pretty easy. We will see how I feel tomorrow. I expect lots of sore muscles again.

And yes I am still a bit sick, but I am fed up with being in bed and I need to get going again.
